We’re very excited to announce that Lauren Zoe Baker, an undergraduate researcher with the MInDS@Mines team, has been awarded the prestigious Goldwater scholarship! Zoe has been working with our team for over a year and has shown tremendous promise. Receiving the Goldwater scholarship is further proof of her abilities and achievements.

From the Barry Goldwater Foundation’s website, “The Goldwater Scholarship Program, one of the oldest and most prestigious national scholarships in the natural sciences, engineering and mathematics in the United States, seeks to identify and support college sophomores and juniors who show exceptional promise of becoming this Nation’s next generation of research leaders in these fields.”

You can find Zoe listed on the 2020 Goldwater scholars list under the state of Colorado, with her career goal to “Pursue a Ph.D. in Computer Science, specializing in machine learning. Conduct research and teach computer science in a university or industry setting.”

We look forward to seeing Zoe continue to make progress towards her career goal and being awarded the Goldwater scholarship is an exemplary next step. Congratulations Zoe!
